Sambal Goreng No. 8 — A Fiery Classic with a Lucky Twist

RM15.00 MYR

At Hawa’s Artisan Kitchen, our Sambal Goreng No. 8 is a tribute to Malaysia’s most beloved condiment — sambal, the essential chili-based sauce found on every table. Crafted with fresh local chilies, ripe tomatoes, Asian aromatics, and belacan, this sambal delivers the perfect balance of heat, tang, and umami. Ideal as a side for rice, noodles, or as a flavour base for your favourite stir-fries.

What makes this sambal special isn’t just its taste — it’s the story behind the number 8. When 18 customers and friends in Lahad Datu sampled our trial batch, we asked them to rate the heat level from 1 (mild) to 10 (very spicy). The average score was 8 out of 10 — just right for those who enjoy a bold but balanced kick.

Interestingly, the number 8 kept appearing — in the test results, in feedback, and as a symbol of luck and prosperity in Asian culture. That’s how our friend Kendra suggested the name “Sambal Number 8”, inspired by the timeless elegance of Chanel No. 5. And so, Sambal Goreng No. 8 was born — bold, balanced, and proudly Malaysian.

Each jar is slowly sautéed (“tumis”) to perfection, allowing the ingredients to caramelize and develop deep, complex flavours — a process that captures the soul of home-cooked sambal in every spoonful.

Storage Instructions
