At Hawa’s Artisan Kitchen, we believe no one should miss out on Malaysia’s favourite condiment — sambal — even those who follow a vegan diet or are allergic to seafood. Traditionally, Sambal Tumis Nenas (Pineapple Sambal) includes belacan, a dried shrimp paste used for its deep umami flavour. To make this sambal inclusive for everyone, we’ve created a fully plant-based version that delivers the same rich, savoury depth — without the shrimp.
Our Vegan Sambal Tumis Nenas is lovingly made with locally sourced ingredients from Lahad Datu: dried chilies, chunky pieces of sweet pineapple, fragrant aromatics, and a vegan belacan crafted from soy and other plant-based ingredients. The result is a sambal that’s sweet, spicy, tangy, and umami-rich — a perfect balance of flavours that pairs beautifully with rice, noodles, bread, or vegetable dishes.
Each jar is slow-cooked to perfection, ensuring the pineapple’s natural sweetness melds with the chili’s gentle heat for a bold yet refreshing Malaysian condiment — handcrafted with love in Sabah.
